People in communities throughout British Columbia can look forward to improved environmental infrastructure, thanks to a $243-million partnership between the federal and provincial governments.

Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, will meet with western counterparts today at a summit in Winnipeg to discuss innovative ways to improve B.C.'s transportation network and the movement of goods across the West.

Construction activities on Highway 4 at Kennedy Hill will begin the week of May 7, 2018.

Crews are making progress on the Highway 1 six-laning project between 202nd and 216th Street, and building the new interchange at 216th Street.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will upgrade approximately two kilometres of Otter Point Road, which is a key access point for Highway 14, and an important alternative route when the highway is closed.

Based on community feedback, the traffic-stoppage schedule has been adjusted to better accommodate tourists and local commuters before construction begins next month on Highway 4 at Kennedy Hill.

Drivers are advised to watch for temporary shifts in the travelling lanes on Highway 1 as work continues on the McKenzie interchange.
