Students throughout British Columbia are heading back to school this week and the Province of B.C. along with ICBC and Kamloops RCMP are urging drivers to stay alert and adhere to school zone speed limits to ensure that children get safely to school and back home again.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has extended the deadline to receive applications for capital and operating grants under the Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan community vehicle grant program.

Work is now complete to replace a small, local bridge on Kamloops Lake Drive near the west end of Kamloops Lake.

Construction is set to begin on widening and four-laning a section of Highway 97 south of Williams Lake, which will result in shorter travel times, less driver frustration and a safer highway.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is starting work soon on a $3-million resurfacing project for a 10-kilometre stretch of Chilliwack Lake Road.

Drivers can check on road conditions before heading out on Highway 91 in Richmond East with the addition of a new highway camera, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone announced.
