Effective at 4 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, Sept. 5, the area restriction order in place for a group of fires west of Elkford will be rescinded to allow public access to the region.

Effective at noon on Sept. 5, 2014, campfires will once again be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre's jurisdiction, due to cooler weather in the forecast and fall weather patterns that have resulted in a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

During the cooler evenings of late summer, many British Columbians are once again starting to light wood stoves or fireplaces to help keep their homes warm.

Effective at noon on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, open burning will once again be permitted throughout the Prince George Fire Centre due to cooler and wetter weather conditions.

Effective at 4 p.m. on Sept. 5, 2014, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning will once again be allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre.

Residents of the communities of Canal Flats and Elkford may notice heavy smoke from wildfires burning near Whiteswan Lake Provincial Park.

As of noon on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, the area with restricted access around the Mt. McAllister wildfire is being expanded to ensure the safety of the public and firefighting personnel.

Ministry staff will remove an unsafe tree containing an eagle nest from Crown land in the 48000 block of Yale Road in Chilliwack.

An area restriction order that's been in effect near fires burning in areas west of Elkford is being amended, effective immediately, to increase public access to those areas and reopen some forest service roads.

Despite cooler temperatures and recent rain showers in some areas, campfires are still prohibited in a large part of the Cariboo Fire Centre.
