British Columbia is deploying an additional group of firefighters and specialists to Northern Alberta as fire activity continues to challenge crews. Nine 20-person unit crews, two ignition specialists, 19 division supervisors, five radio operators and one agency representative will be leaving for Alberta today.

Over the past week the Prince George Fire Centre has responded to seven new forest fires all caused by human activity. Six of these fires have been extinguished and the seventh is being patrolled to ensure it does not flare up again. All fires were human caused, therefore all were preventable.
