Thanks to significantly increased funding, the BC Arts Council Scholarship Program can offer more opportunities for young British Columbians to study the arts.

The government of British Columbia is providing an additional $1 million to Creative BC bringing the total new contribution to the society to $2 million and enhancing its ability to focus on priorities areas.

The British Columbia government is helping build communities and local economies through sport with a renewed investment of $500,000 to support the hosting of sporting events throughout the province, announced Bill Bennett, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.

Knowledge Network has received $300,000 from the government of British Columbia, Community Sport and Cultural Development Minister Ida Chong announced today.

The Province is proclaiming the week of Sept. 17-24, 2011 as "B.C. Coaches Week" to encourage British Columbians to celebrate the valuable contribution these mentors make to their communities.

Applications are now being accepted to help local sport, municipalities, Aboriginal and community organizations increase sport opportunities for British Columbians of all ages and abilities.
