Columbia River Treaty

Edition:

Continuing Basin Engagement

The Province committed to continuing to engage with First Nations and communities throughout any negotiation process as stated in the principles underlying the Draft BC Recommendation on the future of the Columbia River Treaty. Continued engagement with Basin residents in future Treaty discussions and decisions and meaningful ongoing engagement of Basin residents about the operation of hydro facilities in the Basin are two of the Columbia River Treaty Local Governments’ Committee’s recommendations to government.

The Province, BC Hydro and the Local Governments’ Committee have begun working together to develop an engagement schedule and process for interacting with Basin residents. Further developments will be provided in a future newsletter.
