Columbia River Treaty Review Conferences in March

Dates, times and venues have now been set for the Columbia River Treaty conferences in March. In Golden, the conference will be held on March 20 at the Golden Civic Centre. It will be held on March 22 at the Sandman Hotel in Castlegar. The March 22 conference will also be live streamed. This means Basin residents can listen to conference presentations and view PowerPoint slides in real time at their own computer.

The conference will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with a Columbia River Treaty basic information session from 8:30 am – 9:00 am. The conference, including lunch, is free.

The one-day conferences will provide an opportunity for attendees to: learn more about the technical studies results of potential Treaty decisions and how environmental and social interests may be affected; participate in a panel debate on the opportunities and drawbacks of the potential Treaty decisions; hear about U.S. technical studies from the U.S. Entity; and participate in discussions on some of the key interests identified by Basin residents during the spring 2012 and fall 2012 community workshops held by the Province.

You can view the agenda and register for the Golden and Castlegar conferences or the LiveStream session on March 22, at gov.bc.ca/columbiarivertreaty.

More information about the conferences will be included in next month's newsletter.
