Summary of U.S. Entity Open Houses

Jul 11, 2013

In May and June 2013, Bonneville Power Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (the U.S. Entity) hosted a number of open houses in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. The Columbia River Treaty Review Team attended several of the meetings. The main topics discussed included: how effective use of U.S. reservoirs for called upon flood control may affect interests and impact flood risk; whether the Canadian Entitlement is an accurate reflection of power benefits; potential effects on water supply, including irrigation; coordination to enhance ecosystems, including salmon populations; and adaptation to climate change. Many attendees also wanted more information on the process leading to the U.S. recommendation and beyond.
