The Province’s Columbia River Treaty Review Team, together with the Columbia River Treaty Local Governments’ Committee, invites Basin residents to attend a community consultation meeting:

New Report Examines Duncan Dam, Hugh L. Keenleyside Dam and Arrow Lakes Reservoir Scenarios
The Treaty Review Team heard from residents and Sounding Board members about the need to explore additional options related to Duncan and Hugh L. Keenleyside Dams. A report prepared by Alan Thomson of Mountain Station Consultants expands the bookend alternatives previously modelled. Read more
Meeting in Golden
In October 2013, the Columbia River Treaty Review Team hosted a meeting in Golden of industry, community organization representatives, local government and private individuals with an interest in issues related to recreation and road access near Kinbasket Reservoir. Representatives from Columbia Basin Trust and other provincial agencies also attended this meeting. Read more
US Draft Recommendations
On September 20, 2013 the US Entity released their Draft Recommendations for stakeholder and public comment. The US Entity hosted public round table meetings in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana to meet with stakeholders and receive their comments. The public was also asked to submit comments directly to the US Entity. The public comment period on the Draft Recommendations ended on October 25, 2013. Read more
Columbia River Treaty Review
The Columbia River Treaty is a trans-boundary water management agreement between the United States and Canada. The Columbia River Treaty has no specified end date. Either Canada or the United States can terminate most of the agreement provisions as early as September 16, 2024, provided they give at least 10 years’ notice. Read more

Addendum to the Draft Columbia River Treaty 2014 Review Technical Studies Report
Responding to feedback received during First Nations and public consultations, BC Hydro analysts recently completed technical analyses of two new alternatives modelled under the Treaty Terminate Scenario: Arrow Lakes Reservoir stabilized mid-elevation; and Ecosystem function. Read more
Update on First Nations Consultation and Upcoming Archeology Session
The Treaty Review Team is consulting on a government-to-government basis with potentially affected First Nations’ in the Columbia Basin, with the objective to avoid further impacts to aboriginal rights and title and to support the Province’s commitment to building relationships towards reconciliation with First Nations. In order to better understand the challenges around identification and management of archaeological resources in the reservoirs, the Columbia River Treaty Review team is organizing an archeology workshop in fall 2013. Columbia River Treaty Classroom Project
The Columbia River Treaty Review Team is very excited to announce Allison Dickhout is the successful candidate of their recent call for proposals to create and deliver an engaging classroom presentation on the Columbia River Treaty. The free classroom presentations for Columbia Basin schools will begin in early spring. Read more

What are Next Steps in the Columbia River Treaty Review?
After the conclusion of the public engagement and First Nations consultation on the strategic decision on whether to terminate, continue or enhance the Columbia River Treaty, the Treaty Review Team will make a recommendation to the provincial Cabinet. Read more
